Welcome to electsandravanscotter.com (the "Site"), operated by Sandra Van Scotter for Congress (the "Campaign"), a federal political committee registered with the Federal Election Commission (FEC ID C00922666). Our other domains, sandra4cd20.com and sandravanscotterforcongress.com, redirect to this Site and are covered by these terms.

 

By using the Site, signing up for email or text messages, volunteering, or making a contribution, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or submit information to us.

1. Text message program

 

Consent. By providing your mobile number and checking the opt-in box, you agree to receive recurring text messages from Sandra Van Scotter for Congress about campaign information, voting reminders, volunteer communications, and fundraising requests. Messages may be sent using an automated system. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of donating, volunteering, or using the Site.

Frequency. You will receive up to one message per week.

Cost. Message and data rates may apply. Contact your wireless carrier for details about your plan.

Opting out. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts. You will receive one final message confirming your opt-out. You may also contact us at teamsandra@electsandravanscotter.com, and we will process your request within 24 hours.

Help. Reply HELP to any message, or email teamsandra@electsandravanscotter.com.

​

Carriers. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Messages are sent through Twilio and ActBlue. The program is available on major U.S. carriers; delivery is subject to carrier support and network availability.

Your number. Your mobile number is used only for this program as described in our Privacy Policy and is not shared with any other party for their own marketing purposes.

 

2. Email

​

By submitting your email address on the Site, signing a petition, registering for an event, volunteering, or making a contribution, you agree to receive campaign updates, event invitations, volunteer requests, and fundraising appeals from Sandra Van Scotter for Congress.

Our emails comply with the federal CAN-SPAM Act. Every email we send includes a working unsubscribe link and our mailing address. You can opt out at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email or by writing to teamsandra@electsandravanscotter.com. Opt-out requests are processed within 24 hours.

 

3. Contributions

Contributions to Sandra Van Scotter for Congress are processed by ActBlue and are subject to ActBlue's terms. Contributions are not tax deductible for federal income tax purposes.

​

Federal law limits an individual's contributions to a federal candidate to $3,500 per election for the 2025-2026 cycle. The primary and general elections count as separate elections. Current limits are published by the FEC at fec.gov.

​

By making a contribution, you confirm that all of the following are true:

​

• This contribution is made from your own funds, not from funds provided to you by another person or entity for the purpose of making this contribution.

• You are a United States citizen or lawfully admitted permanent resident.

• You are not a federal government contractor.

• You are at least 18 years old, or if younger, the contribution is made knowingly and voluntarily from your own funds and not at the direction of a parent or guardian.

• This contribution is not made from the general treasury funds of a corporation, labor organization, or national bank.

• You are making this contribution with your own personal credit card or payment method and not with a corporate or business card or the card of another person

 

The Campaign is required by federal law to use its best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation, and employer of each individual whose contributions exceed $200 in an election cycle. The Campaign may refuse or refund any contribution it determines does not comply with federal law.  The Campaign does not accept contributions from political action committees.

 

Refunds. If you believe a contribution was made in error, contact teamsandra@electsandravanscotter.com within 60 days. Refund requests received within that window are processed promptly, in accordance with FEC rules.

 

4. Using the Site

Permitted use. You may use the Site for lawful purposes connected to learning about the Campaign, volunteering, contributing, and sharing Campaign content. You agree not to use the Site to send spam, harvest email addresses or other personal information, introduce malicious code, attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site, or interfere with its operation.

Campaign content. Text, photographs, logos, graphics, video, and other material on the Site belong to the Campaign or are used with permission. You may share Campaign content for personal, non-commercial purposes that support the Campaign, such as posting it on social media or printing it to hand out. Any other use, including altering Campaign materials or using the candidate's name or likeness to imply an endorsement, requires written permission.

Content you submit. If you send us a story, photo, comment, or other material, you give the Campaign a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use it in Campaign communications, and you confirm that you have the right to share it. We may edit submissions for length and clarity.

​

Links to other sites. The Site links to third-party sites, including ActBlue, social media platforms, Substack, and government election resources. Those sites have their own terms and privacy policies, and the Campaign is not responsible for their content or practices.

​

Accuracy. We work to keep the Site current, but information about events, deadlines, and voting procedures can change. Confirm election dates and polling information with your county elections office or the California Secretary of State.

5. Disclaimer

​

The Site and its content are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. The Campaign does not guarantee that the Site will be available at all times, free of errors, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

 

6. Limitation of liability

​

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Campaign, its candidate, treasurer, staff, and volunteers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or your participation in the text message or email programs. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

 

7. Governing law

​

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the Site will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Kern County, California.

 

8. Changes to these terms

​

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised terms on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Site, or continued participation in the text or email programs, after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms.
